I look in your attic myself
I get up into the attic, or down into the crawl space if that's part of it, and take photos and notes on what's there. That covers the old insulation, wiring, gas appliances and anything stored up there.
Drafty rooms, a hot upstairs or a climbing power bill usually trace back to the attic. We find the leaks and close them.

Air sealing closes the leaks between your attic and the rooms below, the openings in the attic floor around lights, pipes, wires and the hatch. EnergyFit Visalia Insulation Solutions provides air sealing services in Visalia, CA so your heated and cooled air stays in the rooms you live in.
When the upstairs runs hot or the room over the garage never feels right, the attic floor is usually where the air gets through. Done well, sealing those gaps saves energy, cuts your fuel bills and helps keep moisture problems out of the attic. If you're planning new attic insulation, sealing every opening through the attic floor is the first step, and it's much harder to do once fresh insulation covers it.
The price turns on what's between us and the leaks. Old insulation we have to pull back, boxes stored over the hatch, a lot of can lights or a duct chase all add work, and a roof leak or old wiring that has to be fixed first brings in another trade. Those same repairs set the schedule, along with whether a permit is needed at your address. Your estimate spells out what applies to your house.
I learned this trade insulating new houses, started this business in Visalia in 2023, and I still come out for every estimate myself. Here's how it goes after you call or send us a message.

I write the estimate in the order we'll do the work, so you can see what comes first and why. Then I go over the photos with you so you've seen the leaks and problems yourself.
Our trained installers do the sealing on the day we set with you. We're licensed and insured. Satisfaction guaranteed on every job.
We start where a lot of sealing jobs stop. The gaps at door frames and pipe openings are easy to spot, so we go past them and pull back the insulation above your ceilings, because the small leaks hiding under those layers are the ones that keep a room drafty. Attic problems like wet insulation, rotted rafters, little or no ventilation or knob and tube wiring should be fixed first, and wet insulation usually means the roof leaks, so that repair goes to a roofer before we seal anything. I'd rather tell you the job should wait than seal over a problem and hide it.
Some houses need more than sealing. Foam costs more because it seals air and insulates in one pass, and closed-cell foam insulation, a dense foam that also blocks moisture, earns that cost when your ductwork runs through the attic. Otherwise, sealing the gaps and topping up loose fill usually does the job for less. If your house has a lower level, we can plan basement insulation alongside the sealing so it all goes in the right order.
The crew works through your attic in the order the estimate lists, so nothing gets covered before it's been sealed.
We cover the floor under the attic opening and move stored boxes out of our path, since dust comes down through that hatch. Your rooms stay as clean as when we arrived.
We move the old insulation off the attic floor at lights, wiring, plumbing and the flue, because that's where the air usually gets through. If we find a damp spot or droppings, we show you before going on, since fresh material over a soaked or dirty layer leaves the problem in place.
Small cracks get sealant, bigger holes get spray foam, and wide openings like a duct chase, the hollow box that hides ducts, get rigid blocking sealed at the edges. Around the furnace flue we use material meant for the heat.
We spread the insulation back out evenly and keep it off the eave vents. Before we pack up, I go through the attic and check the work against the estimate.
Call (559) 409-1169 or send the form, and we'll reply within one business day to set a time for me to come out. The estimate is free, done on site and comes with no obligation. If you know about a roof leak, damp insulation or any oil or gas appliances, put it in your note so I can plan the visit.
(559) 409-1169You can seal the gaps you can see, around door frames and where pipes, vents and wires pass through the walls. What that misses is the small, hard-to-find leaks, especially in the attic under layers of insulation, and those need the closest look. Before I come out, it helps to check the attic hatch, recessed lights, wiring and plumbing holes, and the area around the furnace flue.
It can be, as long as the appliance's draft gets checked, because in some cases sealing can cause appliances that vent naturally to back-draft combustion gases into the home. ENERGY STAR says owners with an oil or gas appliance should consider having a Home Performance Contractor test its draft before and after the sealing, and we suggest the same. Mention any gas appliances when you call so we can plan around it.
In Visalia, the city's Building Safety division issues permits only to the property owner or a state licensed contractor. Before work starts, we check with the city or county office that covers your address. When a permit is needed, we apply for it as your licensed contractor and meet the inspector on site.
Yes, two programs may help. The Energy Savings Assistance Program provides no-cost weatherization to households within the CARE or FERA income limits, including weatherstripping, caulking, and door and building shell repairs that cut down on air leaking in. Through CSET, eligible Tulare County households may get air sealing around doors, windows and other draft areas after a professional home assessment, depending on program guidelines, funding and each household's needs.
California lets someone without a contractor license take small jobs only up to $1,000, and only when the work needs no permit and they employ no one on the project. So anyone bringing helpers into your attic, or quoting a bigger sealing job, needs a state license, and it's a fair thing to ask about before they start.
We're based in Visalia and work across the cities around it, from Kingsburg and Selma to Hanford, Lemoore and Woodlake. The attics we see run from older houses with can lights and loose fill gone thin at the edges to newer ones with ductwork running overhead, and we seal them all the same careful way. If your city isn't named on the site, call and ask.
We answer the phone every day of the week until 9 PM, so you can reach us at (559) 409-1169 after work or on a Saturday morning.
If a room in your house never feels comfortable, call or send us a note and I'll come take a look.
